Product application:
rafoxanide is mainly used for the treatment of adult liver flake trematodes on horses, cattle and sheep, and is probably less effective in killing larvae because of its strong affinity for blood proteins. However, it has high anthelmintic activity against child worms over 6 weeks of age in cattle and sheep, which may work just after the drug is administered, or it is likely that because of the long duration of the drug's efficacy in the bloodstream, by the time the trematode begins to ingest blood the drug activity in the bloodstream has accumulated to a high concentration, thus providing an insecticidal effect.
