3-O-Ethyl Ascorbyl Ether (Vitamin C Ethyl Ether) is oil and water soluble, which allows formulators to add it to either the oil or water phase, as well as to add it at high or low temperatures for ease of use, and more importantly, this solubility allows it to penetrate the stratum corneum and enter the dermis more readily to exert its biological effects, which other vitamin C derivatives do not have.
